We are piloting individual and team consultations to support S&Es with their career goals and transitions. Availability is limited
We currently offer two forms of 1:1 coaching for mid-careers (both currently free):
Career transition support (30 minutes, virtual): These sessions are designed to support mid-career S&Es who have recently transitioned to, or are seeking to transition to, a new responsibility or role (e.g. new manager; new group lead; new leadership role in a collaboration). Sessions focus on clarifying goals and connecting S&Es with relevant Lab resources and support.
Strengths coaching (1 hour, virtual or in person): These sessions are designed to support mid-career S&Es in gaining a better understanding of their own leadership strengths and areas for development. The hour-long session is an opportunity to self-assess, reflect, and set goals, using the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment as a starting point. (Assessment must be completed prior to the consultation.)
Coaching is offered on Fridays.
We currently offer three kinds of presentations for mid-career S&Es' teams:
Career development resource presentation (30 minutes, virtual, any number of participants): This session offers an overview of career development at the Lab, focusing mainly on Career Pathways Office resources for grad students and postdocs, but also touching on Lab-wide resources offered by our partners. This is a good fit for teams with members who are relatively new in their careers and/or to the Lab.
Career development group coaching (60 minutes, virtual or in person, minimum 10 participants): This longer session is designed as a deeper dive, with more time for discussion and questions. It includes a presentation and discussion of postdoc career outcomes at the Lab; an overview of creating and using individual development plans; and details on how to effectively explore career paths. Mid-careers with smaller teams are welcome to co-request a session with another team in order to meet the minimum of 10 participants.
CliftonStrengths or MBTI team-building session (90 minutes, virtual or in person): This type of session is designed to enhance collaboration, leveraging individual and collective strengths. Team sessions are interactive and tailored to each team's specific context and goals. Facilitation is free of charge; but sessions use personalized assessments (either CliftonStrengths or MBTI) as a starting point, which are $25-$60 per individual (depending on assessment). This cost is team-funded.
During the pilot phase, availability for presentations is limited to two per Area per year; first-come, first-serve.
